What is psychotherapy, and what should I expect from my first session?

My Commitent

  • Client-led experience

Your first therapy session is all about you. You set the pace and direction, sharing what you’re comfortable with. This client-led approach ensures you feel in control and heard. I’m trained to facilitate this space for you, making room for your to find your way.

  • Non-judgemental, impartial professionalism

Therapy is a judgement-free zone. You can talk openly about your experiences and emotions without fear of being judged or criticised. It is my role to maintain a stance of open and engaged neutrality, and to share my knowledge and experience freely and without bias.

  • Our therapeutic relationship

A strong therapeutic relationship is key. We’ll work on establishing trust and understanding, which are crucial for effective therapy. Many of my clients return to therapy months or even years after our initial time together has ended. The door is always open.

  • A Therapeutic Tool-kit

I will equip you with a range of tools and techniques, tailored to your unique needs. This expert tool-kit helps in navigating your challenges and becoming more comfortable and at ease in your life.

  • Guidance, direction and sign-posting

While our sessions are client-led, I can provide guidance and direction when appropriate. This balanced approach ensures you feel supported and can make progress which feels meaningful to you.
